TOLEDO, OHIO — Weeks after reports of a mysterious beast stalking the Ohio woods, another strange Ohio story is getting attention. This time, a kindergarten graduation at a Catholic school turned into a wild fight between adults over seating.
The brawl happened Thursday morning at Queen of Apostles School in Toledo. Families had gathered to watch children take part in their graduation ceremony when an argument over seats reportedly turned physical.
Fight Started Over Saved Seats
Witnesses told WTVG that one family had been saving several rows of seats for themselves. Other parents tried to sit down, but the situation quickly became tense.
Jessica Anderson, 28, allegedly began yelling and cursing at parents who tried to take some of the seats.
Craig Mays, the father of one of the graduating students, said he tried to calm the situation down. But before he could say much, he said members of Anderson’s family rushed toward him.
Mays said he was suddenly punched and then attacked by several people.
Video Shows Chaotic Scene
Video from the ceremony showed several people fighting on the floor while others tried to pull them apart.

Mays said five men from Anderson’s extended family jumped on him during the fight. He said the attack left him shaken and upset because he was only there to watch his daughter graduate.
When Mays’ former partner tried to help, Anderson allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pulled her away. Video showed the two women fighting off to the side while others continued struggling nearby.
According to an affidavit, the woman later went to the hospital and needed stitches.
Woman Arrested After Brawl
Anderson was arrested and charged with felonious assault.
The fight happened while the children were in another room rehearsing for the ceremony. School officials said the students were safe and continued with their last day of school activities.

It is not clear if the school will hold another graduation ceremony for the children.
Father Says Fight Ruined Special Day
Mays, who is also a kindergarten teacher at another school, said the fight was heartbreaking because the day was supposed to be about the children.
He said he knows how hard kindergarten students and teachers work to prepare for graduation. He said it hurt that adults ruined the moment over something as simple as seating.
The school has not said whether more safety steps will be added for future events.
