June 4, 2026

  • Alyssa Hill, a 27-year-old single mother, was fatally stabbed by her ex-boyfriend while working at a Skyline Chili restaurant in Norwood, Ohio.
  • Rick Wright, 37, fled the scene but was later apprehended at a nearby bank and charged with murder.
  • Hill had ended her relationship with Wright due to warning signs of danger, but the attack still occurred during her shift.

NORWOOD, OHIO — Weeks after a wild brawl broke out at an Ohio kindergarten graduation over seating, another Ohio case has ended in tragedy. This time, a single mother of two was stabbed to death while working at a Skyline Chili restaurant just outside Cincinnati.

Alyssa Hill, 27, was working in the dining room Tuesday when police say her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Rick Wright, stabbed her in the back. The attack happened while Hill was serving customers at the restaurant in Norwood.

Attack Happened During Her Shift

Co-workers and customers called 911 after the stabbing.

Hill was rushed to a local hospital, but she died from her injuries.

Police say Wright fled the restaurant on foot after the attack. Officers later found him inside a nearby bank, where he was arrested.

One witness said Wright walked out of the bank and waved as if he was proud of what had happened.

Ex-Boyfriend Had Prior Convictions

Wright was on probation at the time of the attack after a prior conviction for assaulting a police officer.

Court records also show he had past convictions for assault, drug trafficking, and robbery. Local reports said he also had an active warrant before the stabbing after failing to report to probation and failing to comply with treatment.

Wright was charged with murder and assault. A judge ordered him held without bond at his arraignment.

Hill was a single mother of two and had worked at the restaurant for years.

Friends Say Hill Had Left the Relationship

Friends said Hill and Wright had not been together for some time.

Her childhood best friend, Tessa Lowery, said Hill had noticed warning signs and ended the relationship. Lowery said Hill had done what she was supposed to do to protect herself.

The killing has left friends angry and heartbroken because they believe Hill tried to move on from a dangerous situation.

Remembered as a Loving Mother

Hill was the main provider for her two young children. Friends said she worked seven days a week to support them and also helped with her father’s medical expenses.

A close friend, Kayla Elliott, remembered Hill as kind, encouraging, and generous. She said Hill’s children and family meant everything to her.

A GoFundMe was created to help with funeral expenses and support Hill’s children.

Police say Rick Wright, Hill’s ex-boyfriend, attacked her while she was serving customers.

For her loved ones, Hill’s death is a painful reminder that leaving an abusive relationship does not always end the danger.
