DOUGLAS COUNTY, GEORGIA — Weeks after a Georgia mayor fired the entire police department after a dispute involving his wife, another Georgia case is drawing attention. This time, two people have been charged with murder after a bartender’s dismembered remains were found in a reservoir outside Atlanta.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Jamal Rashad Parker. He worked as a bartender at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta and was also remembered by loved ones as a musician and artist.

Remains Found in Reservoir

Authorities said Parker’s remains were found in May in Dog River Reservoir, about 30 miles outside Atlanta.

At first, investigators did not publicly identify the victim. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office later released images of tattoos as part of the effort to learn who the person was.

Parker’s father contacted authorities after recognizing the tattoos as matching his son’s.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation later used DNA comparison to confirm Parker’s identity.

Two Suspects Charged

The suspects were identified as 46-year-old Mario Andre Barber and 42-year-old Brittany Amber Baker.

Both were arrested and charged with murder.

Investigators believe Parker was killed inside a home in Douglasville where Baker lived.

Local reports said investigators were later seen leaving the property with a reciprocating saw, cleaning supplies, and air fresheners.

Mario Andre Barber and Brittany Amber Baker were charged with murder in Parker’s death.

Suspects Plead Not Guilty

Barber and Baker appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

Both are being held without bond.

Authorities have not publicly released a motive. Police have also not confirmed whether Parker knew the two suspects.

However, a GoFundMe created by a family member said Parker was killed by people he knew and trusted.

Family Speaks Out

Parker’s father, Charles Parker, attended court and said he wanted the suspects punished.

He told local media that the case has been deeply painful for the family, especially because of the condition in which his son’s remains were found.

Loved ones said the loss has left them heartbroken.

Remembered as Artist and Bartender

A fundraiser created for burial costs described Parker as someone with a beautiful soul and spirit.

His family said he loved life and the people he met. They remembered him as a musical artist, visual artist, and professional bartender who enjoyed creating new drinks.

The investigation remains active as authorities continue reviewing evidence and looking into what happened before Parker’s remains were found in the reservoir.
