MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA — Just days after a UPS driver went viral for hurling a 30-pound package at a dog during a delivery and then squaring up with the homeowner afterward, another delivery driver and another dog are making the internet pick sides all over again.
This time, it is an Amazon driver in Midwest City, Oklahoma — and instead of throwing a package, he reached for pepper spray. Video captured by the homeowner, who was watching from inside unnoticed, shows the driver approaching the front door with the spray already in hand. When the dog walks over toward him, the driver unloads it directly in the animal's face.
Looking at the footage, the dog's body language does not read as aggressive. No lunging, no growling visible on camera — by most accounts it appeared to be walking over to greet the driver, not attack him. The driver, it seems, made a split-second call that the dog was a threat before confirming it actually was.
The homeowner walked out and slapped the driver on the spot. Police were called, reviewed the footage, and sided with the homeowner. No charges were filed against the owner for the slap.
Amazon has not commented publicly on the incident. The driver has not been identified.
