ORLANDO, FL — Following a disturbing incident where an Orlando woman was charged with attacking a child at a luxury hotel, a new wave of public violence has emerged in the same city. A road rage dispute near a local mall recently spiraled into a physical attack on a pregnant driver and a Good Samaritan, resulting in the arrest of 37-year-old Mandolyn Shaffer-Brockwell.

The incident began near Millenia Boulevard and Millenia Plaza Way when Shaffer-Brockwell, driving a white Kia, reportedly began "brake-checking" a white SUV driven by a pregnant woman. The victim told police she honked her horn and tried to change lanes to escape the erratic driver, but Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly cut across two lanes of traffic to block her path.

The Assault on the Roadway

Surveillance footage released by the Orlando Police Department shows Shaffer-Brockwell exiting her vehicle and jumping onto the hood of the victim's SUV. Witnesses and police reports indicate she shouted, “Honk at me again, [expletive],” before opening the driver’s side door and repeatedly punching the victim in the face.

The victim, who had a child in the car at the time, reportedly attempted to warn Shaffer-Brockwell that she was pregnant, but the assault continued.

“A woman just assaulted me in my car,” the victim told 911 dispatchers in a frantic call obtained by local media.

Attack on a Good Samaritan

A 68-year-old bystander who witnessed the attack stopped her vehicle to intervene and assist the pregnant woman. According to police, Shaffer-Brockwell told the woman to “get back in your [expletive] car” before scratching and hitting her across the face. Witness video captured the suspect fleeing the scene shortly after the second assault.

Resisting Arrest and Biting Incident

Orlando police located Shaffer-Brockwell a short distance away. Body-camera footage shows the suspect sitting on the ground and initially claiming to “plead the fifth” when an officer informed her she was being detained.

The situation turned violent when the officer attempted to handcuff her. Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly "violently resisted," pulling her arms away and yelling, "Tell me why!" during a struggle on the grass. During the altercation, Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly bit the officer on the arm, prompting the officer to exclaim, “Don’t bite me!”

Legal Status and Charges

Shaffer-Brockwell has been charged with:

  • Aggravated battery on a pregnant person

  • Battery on a person 65 years or older

  • Burglary of a conveyance with assault/battery

  • Aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer

  • Resisting an officer with violence

While she was granted $21,000 bond for three of the charges, she is currently being held without bond at the Orange County Jail on the burglary charge. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 30, 2026.
