The courtroom dispute adds another Florida sports controversy to the spotlight, months after a bench-clearing brawl erupted at a youth baseball game after a parent allegedly punched an umpire’s father.
Sophie Hall, 36, is suing Hill over a June 28, 2023, incident at his Southwest Ranches home. Hall claims the NFL standout forcefully shoved her during an informal football drill, causing a severe leg fracture that required reconstructive surgery and physical therapy.
Hill’s attorneys deny that he intentionally hurt her and argue that Hall was injured after tripping over a dog during the backyard activity.
Football Lesson Ends in Injury
According to Hall’s lawsuit, she met Hill after enrolling her son in his football camp. The two later communicated regularly before Hall visited Hill’s Florida home.
During the meetup, Hall allegedly joined Hill in a backyard football drill. Her attorney told jurors that the two initially laughed during the lesson, but the situation changed after Hall knocked Hill backward in front of others.
Hall’s legal team claims Hill became embarrassed and responded with force, shoving her hard enough to fracture her leg.
Her attorney described the case as being about an “aggressive act” and said Hall was left in severe pain after the incident.
Hill’s Defense Says Dog Caused Fall
Hill’s legal team presented a different version of events.
His attorney argued that Hall voluntarily participated in the drill and should have understood the risks of a physical football activity. The defense claims Hall stepped on or tripped over a dog while moving in the backyard, causing her to fall and injure her knee.
Hill’s side has also pointed to Hall’s later statements and actions, including her admission in a deposition that she stayed at Hill’s home for several days after the injury.
Deposition Details Raised in Court
During the civil case, both sides have referenced prior deposition testimony.
Reports say Hall admitted she did not seek medical treatment until days after the injury. She also said Hill gave her a piggyback ride into his bedroom after the incident and that the two were intimate after she was hurt.
Hall has said she felt vulnerable and wanted comfort at the time.
Hill, meanwhile, acknowledged during a deposition that he was attracted to Hall because of her height, according to reports cited in court coverage.
Lawsuit Seeks Damages
Hall is seeking more than $50,000 in damages under claims of battery, assault, and negligence. She says the injury caused lasting pain, required reconstructive surgery, and forced her to undergo ongoing physical therapy.

Hill, who is now a free agent after several seasons with Miami, denies intentionally injuring Hall.
