NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — Actor Shia LaBeouf has now been formally charged after an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans earlier this year.
Court records from Orleans Parish show that LaBeouf faces three misdemeanor counts of simple battery. The charges were filed by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office on May 21.
The case stems from an incident that allegedly happened after midnight on February 17 in the French Quarter.

Alleged Fight Outside Bar
Police previously said officers responded to a disturbance outside a Royal Street business during Mardi Gras celebrations.
According to earlier reports, LaBeouf had been removed from the business after allegedly causing a disturbance. Once outside, police said he became involved in a confrontation with several people.
Investigators alleged that LaBeouf struck one person, left the area, and later returned. Police said he then became more aggressive and struck the same person again.
Authorities also alleged that LaBeouf punched a second person in the nose.
Third Battery Charge Added
LaBeouf was first arrested shortly after the incident on two counts of simple battery.
New court records now show that he faces three misdemeanor simple battery charges tied to the same case. Reports say he was also arrested again on February 28 in connection with an additional misdemeanor battery charge.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Bond and Court Conditions
During a February court hearing, a judge ordered LaBeouf to enter substance abuse treatment, undergo regular drug testing, and post a $100,000 bond as conditions of his release.
LaBeouf later posted bond and has remained out of custody while the case moves forward.
Video previously published by TMZ appeared to show him shirtless outside the bar while emergency responders treated him for injuries.
Legal Case Continues
One alleged victim claimed LaBeouf was acting aggressively before the confrontation escalated. The person also alleged that he shouted at patrons and used offensive language.
LaBeouf’s legal representatives have not publicly commented on the latest charges.
The actor has spoken in the past about struggles with addiction, mental health, and sobriety. He has also faced several past legal issues involving public disturbances and intoxication-related arrests.
For now, the case remains active in Orleans Parish as LaBeouf waits for the next steps in court.
