JEDDAH, SAUDIA ARABIA — A Saudia Airlines flight was turned into a "bloody mess" after colliding with a flock of birds shortly after takeoff on Saturday, but it continued to its destination and landed safely with no injuries reported. The incident occurred on Flight SV340, a Boeing 777-300, which had just departed from Algiers.
The encounter happened on Saturday, October 25, 2025, as the plane was in its climb-out phase from Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG) in Algiers.
Graphic Passenger Video and Damage
A passenger on board the flight captured graphic video of the incident, which shows birds hitting one of the plane's engines and "practically exploding upon impact." The disturbing clip clearly shows blood splattered across the aircraft's wing.
Despite the violent strike, the pilots continued the flight to its original destination. Photos of the aircraft taken after it landed safely at King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah showed the plane's nose cone was significantly dented from the impact.
One X user described the scene as "the most shocking bird strike I’ve ever seen!"

Safe Landing, No Injuries
The Aviation Safety Network confirmed the bird strike. The aircraft involved, a Boeing 777-3FGER (registration HZ-AK31) delivered in 2016, sustained minor damage to its nose cone but did not require an emergency landing.
Saudia Airlines confirmed that no passengers or crew members were injured during the incident.
