PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA — A homecoming celebration at Lincoln University turned deadly late Saturday night when gunfire erupted on the Pennsylvania campus, leaving one man dead and six others injured. The man killed was identified as 20-year-old Jujuan Jeffers.

The shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. outside the International Culture Center. Students and alumni were socializing in an area with tents and tables set up for the homecoming festivities following a football match earlier in the day.

Investigators have stated they believe multiple shooters were involved in the mass shooting. The six surviving victims are all expected to recover.

Arrest Made, but Investigation Continues

One person, 21-year-old Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson, was taken into custody immediately following the incident. However, he has been charged only with carrying a firearm illegally.

Chester County District Attorney Chris de Barrena-Sarobe emphasized in a press conference on Sunday that the investigation is still active. "I cannot confirm, however, right now at this time whether or not the gun that was found on him was used in the shooting," the DA said. "We have further things to do before we can confirm or deny that".

According to the criminal complaint, Morgan-Thompson entered the university with a firearm and was on campus with it at the time of the shooting. He reportedly admitted to investigators that he had transported the firearm from Wilmington, Delaware. He is currently being held at the Chester County Jail on $25,000 bail.

University Response

At a press conference on Tuesday, Lincoln University President Linda Allen offered her condolences to the victims. "This is an ongoing investigation and we have been working diligently with law enforcement to assist in their efforts," Allen stated

She also lauded the campus community for its resilience. "We are also grateful to the students who have taken the lead to comfort one another and to help the campus," Allen added. "I'm truly grateful for this community: One Lincoln, One Roar, One Pride".
