The crash occurred just after midnight on the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) near Washington Avenue
The driver of the wrong-way BMW was pronounced dead at the scene
Police are investigating how the BMW entered the freeway going the wrong direction despite numerous warning signs
Kalysha, who was in the process of divorcing Champ, alluded to the tragedy in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, writing, “I just received the worse [sic] news of my life. Pray for me and my kids please”

In a formal statement, Kalysha confirmed the "tragic and unexpected passing of my spouse and father of my beautiful daughters, Jamar Champ"
