KATY, TEXAS — Jesus Arellano, 22, was arrested after investigators linked him to a tire-slashing spree that damaged vehicles across a Katy neighborhood and prompted more than 20 reports, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Surveillance Video Captured Multiple Vehicles Targeted
Residents reported finding their tires slashed Thursday afternoon, with some of the incidents recorded on home security cameras. One neighbor’s footage showed a man walking along a residential street and repeatedly stabbing tires before moving to the next vehicle.
Several residents reported paying hundreds of dollars to replace damaged tires, calling the situation disruptive and costly.

More Than 20 Reports Filed Across Nearby Neighborhoods
The sheriff’s office said the calls were not limited to a single street. Reports came in from the neighborhood where the slashing was first spotted as well as adjacent areas, with deputies documenting a pattern consistent with a single suspect moving on foot between parked vehicles.
Deputy Spotted Suspect Walking Nearby
Investigators credited a patrol deputy with locating Arellano later that day while he was walking on a sidewalk in the area. Authorities said the suspect lived in the same neighborhood where the incidents began.
Officials also said the man detained was wearing clothing consistent with the person seen in surveillance footage and had a knife matching the one believed to have been used in the vandalism.

Community Relief After Arrest
After the arrest, sheriff’s officials said the neighborhood could take some comfort knowing the suspect was in custody while the investigation continues and additional victims come forward.
