SPRING, TEXAS — A gym workout turned violent earlier this month. A Texas woman was arrested for attacking a romantic rival. Law enforcement says she used a 25-pound weight plate as a weapon.
"Someone Her Partner Was Involved With"
The incident occurred on January 7. Deputies responded to a 911 call at a 24 Hour Fitness in Spring. Aralyn Martinez, 24, allegedly confronted another woman inside the gym.

Martinez recognized the victim. She identified her as "someone her partner was involved with." The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence.
Weight Plate Thrown at Head
According to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Office, Martinez grabbed a loose weight. She threw the 25-pound plate directly at the victim's head.

Deputies arrested Martinez on January 8. She was charged with aggravated assault. She was booked into the Harris County Jail.
Alcohol Was a Factor
Martinez posted a $1,000 bond the next day. Court documents reveal that alcohol likely played a role in the attack. The judge has ordered her to abstain from alcohol entirely.

She is also prohibited from possessing weapons. The court issued a no-contact order regarding the victim. Martinez is banned from coming within 200 feet of the gym. Her next court appearance is set for January 22.
