WEST BABYLON, NEW YORK — A 17-year-old boy from Syosset has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Liam Delemo during a large house party in West Babylon earlier this month.

According to Suffolk County Police, the incident happened around 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at a home on Carlton Road where an estimated 90 to 100 teenagers had gathered for a party.
Fight Leads to Deadly Stabbing
Investigators said a fight broke out inside the home, and during the altercation, Delemo was stabbed. The suspect’s name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
Delemo, an 11th-grade honor roll student at West Babylon High School, was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead. The school district offered counseling services and delayed opening on the following school day to support students affected by his death.
Homeowner Also Charged
Authorities also charged the homeowner, 70-year-old Bonnie Miranda, under Suffolk County’s Social Host Law and with endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Miranda, the grandmother of the teen who hosted the party, allowed the gathering to take place at her home. The suspect was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip.
Community Response
The West Babylon community held a vigil in memory of Delemo, who classmates described as kind, smart, and full of promise. Grieving students and neighbors placed flowers, candles, and photos outside the school to honor his life.
The investigation remains active as Suffolk County Police continue to gather witness statements and review video evidence from the night of the incident.
