LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Maria De La Rosa, 22, known professionally as DELAROSA, was fatally shot early Saturday morning in what police are calling a targeted ambush in the Northridge neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. Two men who were in the vehicle with her remain in critical condition, and authorities are searching for the suspects.
The shooting took place just before 1:30 a.m. on November 22, 2025, near Bryant Street and Tampa Avenue. Witnesses told investigators that two men ran up to a parked car and opened fire, striking all three occupants multiple times before fleeing the scene.
DELAROSA was rushed to a nearby hospital but later pronounced dead. Her two companions were also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not yet been publicly released.
Promising Career Cut Short
DELAROSA was an emerging voice in the Latin music world and had started to gain traction online, amassing over 40,000 followers on social media. Her debut single, No Me Llames ("Don't Call Me"), was released in August. Just weeks before the attack, she posted about working on new music and recording in the studio.
Friends and fans described her as passionate, ambitious, and deeply rooted in her culture. News of her death has drawn an outpouring of grief and tributes across social platforms.
Investigation Ongoing
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the incident is being treated as a targeted shooting. While there is speculation that it could be gang-related, officials have not confirmed a motive. No arrests have been made as of this writing.
