NEW FREEPORT, PENNSYLVANIA – The peace of the holiday season was shattered by the sound of gunfire just one day after Christmas. A quiet family home turned into a crime scene when an 18-year-old allegedly turned a gun on his own parents, leaving his mother dead and his father wounded before fleeing into the woods.

A Holiday Nightmare
The violence unfolded on the afternoon of Friday, December 27, in the rural community of New Freeport, located just north of the West Virginia border. State troopers responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find both of the suspect’s parents suffering from gunshot wounds outside the home.
The mother, whose name has not yet been released, was transported in critical condition and later died at the hospital. The father was also hospitalized, but he survived and has since been discharged in stable condition, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Siblings Left Behind
Authorities confirmed that younger siblings were inside the home at the time of the shooting, though the gunfire occurred outside. The children were unharmed but are now in the care of a relative. Officials have not released further details about their ages or the number of children involved.
The Manhunt
After the shooting, Jarrod Noll reportedly fled on foot into the surrounding wooded area. State police immediately launched an extensive search, calling in helicopters, K-9 tracking units, and ground teams to comb the rough terrain near the Pennsylvania–West Virginia state line.
"We used tracking dogs, we used helicopters, and we used police on foot searching rough terrain.
Obviously, when you have someone on the run with a homicide warrant and a gun, it's a huge danger to the community."

Captured
The manhunt ended the following day, Saturday, December 28, when Noll was located and arrested without incident in West Virginia. He is currently being held there while awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, where he faces charges of criminal homicide and attempted criminal homicide.
No motive for the shooting has been publicly confirmed. The investigation remains ongoing.
