OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA — Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Anthony Gonzalez, 24, in the killing of 18-year-old 7-Eleven clerk Jaedynn Anthony, who was working an overnight shift alone when she was robbed and stabbed. Investigators say the suspect greeted her at the door before taking less than $40 from the register and fleeing.

Surveillance Video Shows Brief Interaction Before Attack
Investigators say store surveillance captured Gonzalez entering the 7-Eleven and exchanging a greeting with Anthony before moving toward the counter area. Authorities allege he ordered her to open the cash register and, once the drawer was open, stabbed her one time before running out of the store.

Police Found Anthony Dead After Early-Morning Call
Officers arrived at approximately 2:45 a.m. and found Anthony dead, prosecutors said. Police reports also indicate customers entered the store after the stabbing and found her in medical distress.
Suspect Arrested After Several Days
Gonzalez was sought for several days before being arrested by Oklahoma City Police with assistance from U.S. Marshals task force members, according to officials. He is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
