New Jersey Woman Receives Probation for 2022 Crash That Killed Two Men

January 25, 2026

  • Danielle M. Bowker was sentenced to five years probation and a two-year driving suspension after her October 2025 conviction on two third-degree vehicular homicide counts.
  • On March 29, 2022, Bowker’s Honda failed to maintain its lane on Route 571’s right-hand curve, triggering a chain reaction that killed two.
  • Victims Michael Sadis, 48, died at the scene and Paul Lamberti, 58, later died at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
  • Prosecutors sought consecutive prison terms totaling six years, citing THC lab results, while the jury acquitted Bowker of stricter homicide and DWI charges.

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Michael Sadis and Paul Lamberti were the victims of a 2022 multi-vehicle collision for which Danielle M. Bowker was sentenced to five years of probation on Friday.

Superior Court Judge Dina M. Vicari delivered the sentence on Jan. 23, 2026, following Bowker’s October 2025 conviction on two counts of third-degree vehicular homicide. In addition to probation, Bowker’s driving privileges were suspended for two years.

Sentencing Arguments

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office had requested a significantly harsher penalty, seeking a three-year prison term for each victim to be served consecutively, totaling six years of incarceration.

The court ultimately rejected the state's recommendation. Prosecutors argued that Bowker’s actions constituted a dangerous choice, while the defense maintained that the incident was the result of a momentary driving error rather than criminal intent.

Prosecutors alleged that Bowker was a "recent, active user of marijuana" at the time of the collision based on lab results showing THC in her system, according to Patch.com.

Details of the Collision

The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on March 29, 2022, on Route 571 in Manchester Township. According to police reports:

  • Initial Impact: Bowker was driving a 2018 Honda Civic westbound when she failed to maintain her lane while navigating a right-hand curve.

  • Chain Reaction: Her vehicle struck an eastbound New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) Ford F-550 pickup truck.

  • Secondary Collisions: The impact caused the DOT truck to lose control, striking a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Michael Sadis, 48, and a 2015 Toyota Corolla operated by Paul Lamberti, 58.

Sadis was pronounced dead at the scene. Lamberti was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Bowker and the occupants of the DOT truck sustained minor injuries.

Trial and Legal History

During the five-week trial, the prosecution presented evidence that Bowker had THC in her system at the time of the crash, alleging she was impaired by marijuana. The defense provided expert testimony stating that Bowker had used marijuana the previous evening and was not impaired at the time of the morning collision.

The jury acquitted Bowker of the more serious charges of strict liability vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. The panel concluded that her recklessness was specifically linked to her failure to maintain a lane.

In December 2024, a $1 million settlement was reached in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the Lamberti family against Bowker and the Department of Transportation.
