Martinsville, Indiana — Former Indiana high school teacher Brittany Fortinberry now faces 47 criminal charges after a new accuser stepped forward, expanding allegations that she sexually abused multiple underage boys while supplying them with drugs, gifts, and threats to keep them quiet.
The 32-year-old, who once taught at Eminence High School and worked in the Martinsville school system, had already been charged with 24 counts including child molestation, sexual misconduct with a minor, and dissemination of harmful material. Prosecutors said the latest accusations brought the total to nearly 50 charges. According to court records, the most recent victim said Fortinberry lured him to her home with presents and marijuana before initiating sexual contact. He claimed he sometimes stayed overnight at her house, even sleeping in her children’s bedroom while Fortinberry and her husband were elsewhere.
The case first surfaced in August 2024, when the grandmother of a 15-year-old boy alleged the teacher had molested her grandson, sent him nude photos, and threatened him if he spoke out. Since then, more young men have come forward with similar accounts. One of the most disturbing allegations is that Fortinberry forced boys to wear a “Ghostface” mask from the Scream horror film during sexual encounters.
Her husband, Nicholas Fortinberry, has also been charged with intimidation and failure to report a crime. Prosecutors say he once threatened to kill a teenager “in front of your family” if the boy continued contact with Brittany. Nicholas filed for divorce earlier this year and is seeking custody of their child. If convicted of the most serious felony counts, Brittany Fortinberry could face up to 40 years in prison per charge.
Authorities believe more victims may still come forward as the investigation unfolds.
