January 7, 2026

LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — Mackenzie Dalton, the 16-year-old subject of a missing persons report that we covered yesterday, has been found safe. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed she was located within the county, ending a search that began over a month ago.

Teen Found Safe, Not Abducted

Investigators determined that Dalton was not held against her will or forced to remain with anyone she did not want to be with. She had been missing since late November, leading authorities to previously classify her as an endangered juvenile.

South Carolina’s Mackenzie Dalton, 16, was found safe after she was reported missing late last year.

The Sheriff's Office had previously recovered the vehicle Dalton drove away in and a suitcase she took from her home. This discovery had initially raised concerns about her safety.

Man Arrested for Lying to Police

Mackenzie Keith English Jr., 18, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the case. Authorities accuse English of lying to investigators about his knowledge of Dalton's whereabouts and whether he was with her.
