MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA — Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother and poet, has been identified as the woman shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday.
Family Describes "Kindest Person"
Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, described her daughter as "one of the kindest people I’ve ever known."

Good had recently moved to the South Minneapolis neighborhood with her wife and 6-year-old son. She was killed just blocks from her new home.

Family members revealed that Good’s son is now an orphan, as his father passed away in 2023. His grandfather stated he would do whatever it takes to care for the child.

Confrontation Caught on Video
The shooting occurred while ICE agents were conducting an operation in the area. The Department of Homeland Security alleges that Good was among several people using vehicles to block agents from moving.
Video footage shows agents approaching Good's blocked SUV and ordering her to move. As she drove forward, the vehicle appeared to clip an agent, spinning him around. The agent then fired three shots into the car.
Good was struck in the head and her vehicle crashed into a row of parked cars. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
DHS Claims "Domestic Terrorism"
The Department of Homeland Security labeled Good a "domestic terrorist," claiming she attempted to kill federal agents with her vehicle. Officials stated the officer acted in self-defense.

Good’s mother rejected these claims, stating her daughter was likely "terrified" and was not the type of person to be involved in such a protest.
Wife's Agony at the Scene
Witnesses captured video of a bloodied woman, identified as Good's wife, sobbing at the scene. She was heard screaming, "It's my fault," and telling bystanders, "They just shot my wife."
The footage shows the distraught woman yelling at federal agents, asking why they used "real bullets" while claiming Good had been yelling at them.

Local Leaders Condemn Shooting
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz have strongly criticized the incident. Frey demanded ICE leave the city, while Walz dismissed the DHS account as "propaganda" and promised a full investigation.

Protests have since erupted in the neighborhood, with demonstrators gathering near the site of the shooting to leave flowers and confront law enforcement.
