WIXOM, MICHIGAN — Lloyd Poole, a 75-year-old veteran, remains in a critical coma after allegedly being attacked by a food delivery driver. The incident occurred following a dispute over speeding in a residential neighborhood.

Confrontation in Driveway
Poole approached a vehicle outside his home on December 28 to ask the driver to slow down. The driver was working for DoorDash at the time of the encounter.

Police identified the driver as 40-year-old Ryan Turner. Authorities stated that Turner exited his vehicle and punched Poole in the head, knocking him to the ground before driving away.
Victim Suffers Severe Brain Injury
Poole was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors were forced to remove a portion of his skull to relieve brain swelling.

Poole’s daughter, Jen Shaw, told reporters her father has not regained consciousness since the assault. She expressed deep concern that he may never recover from his injuries.
Suspect Charged and Released
Turner later turned himself in to the Wixom Police Department. He admitted to striking Poole but claimed he felt threatened during the interaction.

Turner was charged with aggravated assault and was released after posting a $35,000 bond. Court records reveal he has prior offenses, including charges for assault and driving with a suspended license. DoorDash has since permanently banned him from the platform.
