February 14, 2026

  • Obaidulla Shareef, 28, was found shot in a parked car in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, after a Tinder meetup.
  • Akrystal Woods, 19, from Milwaukee, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to Shareef's death.
  • Witnesses reported Shareef was nervous about meeting two women from Tinder just before the incident occurred.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, ILLINOIS — Obaidulla Shareef, 28, was found shot to death in a parked car in this Chicago-area suburb after investigators traced his final hours to a nearby hotel where witnesses said he appeared nervous about meeting two women he connected with on Tinder, according to court documents referenced in local reporting.

Akrystal Woods was arrested in Milwaukee and is charged in Illinois with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Obaidulla Shareef, court records show.

What Investigators Found

Records state Shareef was discovered Feb. 4 in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked near an office building with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators also found a receipt inside the car from a nearby hotel that included the name of a woman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

What Witnesses Reported At The Hotel

Witnesses interviewed at the hotel told investigators they saw Shareef the day before he was found. One witness said Shareef mentioned he was meeting up with two women he had met on Tinder and described him as nervous about the meetup, according to the documents.

Police later identified one of the women as Akrystal Woods, 19, of Milwaukee. During the encounter, Woods accused Shareef of taking $200 from her, and the argument escalated, the documents indicate. Hotel staff then told Shareef, Woods, and a second woman to leave.

How Detectives Tracked The Vehicles

Investigators used surveillance footage and license plate reader data to follow the movements of two vehicles — one driven by Shareef and another carrying Woods and the second woman — after they left the hotel, according to the court records cited.

The two vehicles were later seen entering a parking garage about 1.5 miles from the hotel. Documents say that shortly before Shareef was found, the vehicle he was in was captured speeding out of the garage, jumping a curb, and hitting several parked cars before coming to a stop.

Arrest And Charges

Authorities later located the second vehicle in Milwaukee. Woods was arrested during a traffic stop on Feb. 5, and an unidentified man who was with her was also taken into custody, according to the report. Woods has been charged in DuPage County, Illinois, with first-degree murder and remained in custody in Wisconsin while awaiting extradition.
