DALLAS, TEXAS — A 33-year-old man, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, has been arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly decapitated a woman at a Dallas motel and then reported the crime to police.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9th, at the Budget Host Inn located on the R.L. Thornton Freeway. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Cobos-Martinez called 911 around 2 p.m. and told the dispatcher he had killed a woman. He stated that he was at a bus stop near the motel and would wait for officers to arrive.
When police responded to the motel, they found a gruesome scene in Room 218. The body of an unidentified woman was discovered on the bed with her head severed. A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was found on the floor.
Officers located Cobos-Martinez at the nearby bus stop and took him into custody without incident. During his interview with detectives, he reportedly confessed to the murder. Cobos-Martinez claimed he had met the woman the previous day and that she had "put a spell on him," which he believed was causing his head and body to hurt. He told police he had known the woman for about a year and a half.
The victim has not yet been publicly identified, pending notification of her family.
Court records indicate that Cobos-Martinez has a history of criminal charges, including a previous arrest for assaulting a family member. His family has reportedly told authorities that he suffers from schizophrenia.
Cobos-Martinez is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail. His bond has not yet been set. The investigation into the horrific crime is ongoing.
