LOWELL, OREGON – The troubled former child star known for his role on the 90s hit "Home Improvement" is back behind bars. Zachery Ty Bryan was arrested for the sixth time in five years on Saturday after a chaotic roadside dispute where his fiancé allegedly attempted to run him over while their three children were in the vehicle.

"Attempted to Run Him Over"
The incident unfolded around noon near a popular camping area. According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan, his fiancé Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and their three small children were driving in a pickup truck when an argument broke out. Bryan reportedly stormed out of the vehicle and began walking down the road.
Authorities say Cartwright then "attempted to run over Bryan" with the truck. She missed him when he dove out of the way, but she wound up driving the pickup directly into a ditch. Fortunately, no one was injured during the crash.

Both Impaired and Cuffed
When deputies arrived, they observed signs that both Bryan and Cartwright were "impaired." Cartwright was arrested following an investigation and now faces charges of reckless driving, DUI, and three counts of reckless endangerment. Two of those endangerment counts have since been cleared.
Bryan was arrested for violating a court order from a prior domestic violence case involving Cartwright. As part of a 2021 plea deal regarding strangulation allegations, he agreed not to have contact with her, yet the couple has had three children since then. He is currently being held without bail.

A Pattern of Legal Trouble
The couple's children have been placed in the care of a family member. Beyond the 2021 strangulation case, Bryan pleaded guilty to felony assault in October 2023 and was arrested twice in 2024 for DUI. He was notably absent from the "Home Improvement" reunion earlier this year.
