Doctor and Mom of Two Found Dead Inside Dollar Tree Freezer After Walking Into Employee Area

December 15, 2025

MIAMI, FLORIDA – A horrifying discovery shook a Miami discount store on Sunday morning when employees opened a walk-in freezer to find the body of a 32-year-old doctor inside. Police are now piecing together the final movements of Massiell Garay Sanchez, a mother of two who vanished into the back of the store the night before.

Massiell Garay Sanchez, a 32-year-old doctor from Nicaragua, was found dead inside a Dollar Tree freezer in Miami on Sunday morning.

A Grisly Discovery

The tragedy unfolded at a Dollar Tree in Miami, where employees arrived for their shift at 8:00 a.m. only to stumble upon the grisly scene. Inside the store's freezer lay the body of Sanchez, sparking a frantic call to 911.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, surveillance footage captured Sanchez entering the store the previous evening. Investigators say she wandered through the aisles but did not purchase any items before walking into an employee-only restricted area where the freezer is located. She never came back out.

Police believe Sanchez entered the employee-only area the night before and have ruled out foul play, determining she was not forced into the unit.

"Unwavering Love"

While the death is currently listed as unclassified, detectives have ruled out foul play, stating that Sanchez was not forced into the freezer by anyone else. Authorities are now investigating whether she was suffering from a personal crisis or mental health issues at the time of the incident.

Sanchez was a doctor originally from Nicaragua, where her two children still reside. A GoFundMe campaign launched by her grieving family describes her as a loving mother whose world revolved around her kids.

Family members were seen waiting outside the store for answers as they raise funds to return Sanchez's body to her children in Nicaragua.

Family Seeking Answers

"Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered," the family wrote in a tribute. Relatives were spotted gathering outside the store on Sunday, waiting anxiously as detectives combed the scene for clues. The family is currently raising funds to transport her body back to Nicaragua for burial.
