TAMPA, FLORIDA — One day after five Florida men were charged in an armed robbery over a $30 vape pen, another Florida robbery case has drawn national attention, this time involving Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold. Authorities say the 23-year-old NFL player helped direct a violent retaliation plot after he believed more than $250,000 in cash and personal property had been stolen from an Airbnb.
Arnold turned himself in at Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County on Wednesday, June 24. Tampa Police said he is facing four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery.
The charges stem from an alleged February attack in Tampa involving three male victims. Police said the victims were held at gunpoint, battered, pistol-whipped, and robbed before being forced to leave the apartment where the assault took place.

Property Reported Stolen From Airbnb
According to Tampa Police, Arnold had rented an Airbnb in Largo, Florida, where he sometimes stayed with friends and several of the other people later named in the case.
On February 1, multiple items belonging to Arnold and others were reportedly stolen from the property. Arnold and three other people later reported more than $250,000 in losses to the Largo Police Department.
The missing property reportedly included cash, watches, jewelry, designer bags, shoes, and a cellphone.
Police said Arnold suspected that two of the later victims had been involved in the Airbnb theft. Investigators later determined those victims were not responsible.

Victims Allegedly Lured to Apartment
Authorities said the alleged retaliation began on February 3, the same day the property loss was reported.
Police said Arnold and others coordinated with two co-defendants to contact one of the victims and get him to come to an apartment in Tampa. Around midnight on February 4, three victims arrived at the apartment.
Investigators said two suspects were hiding inside a bedroom closet before the victims entered the room. Once inside, the victims were allegedly grabbed, held at gunpoint, and beaten.
Police said all three victims had visible injuries after being battered and pistol-whipped. Their personal property was also stolen before they were ordered to leave.

Attack Allegedly Streamed to Arnold
Tampa Police said one co-defendant streamed part of the attack to Arnold and others as they were traveling to the apartment.
Investigators also said they found a group chat involving the defendants. In that chat, Arnold and another suspect allegedly gave directions to people inside the apartment during the assault.
About one hour after the victims arrived, Arnold allegedly showed up at the apartment with others. Police said he directed two people to go inside while the assault was still happening.
At around 1:40 a.m., the victims were escorted out by armed suspects and forced into their vehicle. Police said they left the scene immediately.
Three of the suspects then allegedly got into a vehicle being driven by Arnold and left.

Six Other People Arrested
Before Arnold’s arrest, Tampa Police had already arrested six other people in connection with the case.
The suspects identified by authorities include Arianna Del Valle, 19; Jasmine Randazzo, 19; Lyndell Hudson II, 26; Christion Williams, 24; Boakai Hilton Jr., 23; and Freddie Hughes, 27.
Police said the six were arrested between February 4 and March 21. Their charges included armed robbery, kidnapping, armed kidnapping, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Prosecutors said two of the co-defendants, Del Valle and Randazzo, have since pleaded guilty to their roles. Randazzo was sentenced to four years in state prison followed by probation, while Del Valle’s sentencing will be set later. Both are required to testify truthfully in future proceedings connected to the case.

Arnold Denies Involvement
Arnold has denied the allegations through his representatives.
Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, said Arnold maintains his innocence and denies any involvement in the alleged crimes. His representatives also argued that the case relies on people who have admitted their own roles and may have reasons to blame others.
The Detroit Lions released a brief statement saying the team is aware of Arnold’s legal situation but would not comment further because the case is ongoing.
Arnold was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football at Alabama. He has appeared in 24 games for the Lions.

Prosecutors Seek to Keep Him in Jail
The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office said it plans to file a pretrial detention motion seeking to keep Arnold in custody until trial.
Prosecutors said they will argue that Arnold remains a danger to the community. The charges he faces carry the possibility of a life sentence if he is convicted.
At this stage, the charges remain allegations. Arnold is presumed innocent unless he enters a guilty plea or is found guilty in court.
