OXFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND — Newly released body-camera footage shows convicted killer Robert Richens breaking down during his arrest and fixating on one thing — that he would miss the release of the video game Grand Theft Auto 6 — after murdering his “on-and-off” girlfriend, Rachael Vaughan.

Richens, 35, is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to killing Vaughan, 40, in a brutal attack that left her with dozens of injuries, according to case information detailed in court and by investigators following his conviction.

Body-camera footage shows Robert Richens crying during his arrest and lamenting that he would miss the release of GTA 6.

What Happened To Rachael Vaughan

Vaughan was found dead inside a home in Oxfordshire, and prosecutors said she suffered 64 injuries from blunt-force trauma and knife wounds involving a serrated blade. The killing was described in court as a frenzied, violent assault.

Richens later admitted responsibility and was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 16 years and one month before he can be considered for release.

Arrest Video Captures Disturbing Comments

The footage shows Richens crying as officers take him into custody. At one point, he is heard worrying he would “get life” and repeatedly telling officers he could not stop thinking about what happened — before making the bizarre complaint about missing the upcoming game release.

Investigators said the bodycam clip was made public as part of the case record and has since sparked widespread backlash online for what viewers described as an unsettling lack of empathy.

Police And Prosecutors Describe ‘Heartless’ Behavior

Authorities said Richens left Vaughan alone after the attack and did not seek medical help, only contacting police when he had “nowhere else to turn.” The case also outlined a volatile relationship leading up to the killing, with court proceedings referencing jealousy and escalating threats in the days before Vaughan died.

Richens will remain behind bars for years under the life sentence as the case continues to draw attention for the disturbing details revealed in court and in the newly released footage.
