LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK — Commuters on Sunrise Highway were stunned this week when a car went airborne, flying across multiple lanes of traffic before crashing in a smoky wreck.
Police said the driver, a 70-year-old man from Brentwood, suffered a seizure while behind the wheel of his 2012 Honda. The vehicle veered off a service road, smashed through a guardrail, and launched over both eastbound and westbound lanes.
Dashcam footage captured the moment as the car cleared the highway, prompting one witness to exclaim, “What the f--- was that?!” The vehicle landed overturned in a wooded area off the road.
Remarkably, no other cars were struck and the driver escaped with only minor injuries. He was transported to South Shore University Hospital, where officials said he is expected to recover.

Local fire officials noted the vehicle must have been traveling well above the speed limit to achieve such lift. “It was like watching a meteor,” one witness said.
