July 19, 2000Yoshimi Toyoda was born in 1943 in Japan. Information about his early life is not well-documented, but he grew up in a post-war environment. This period in Japan was marked by significant changes and challenges as the country rebuilt itself after World War II.
As he grew older, Toyoda moved to various places and experienced different aspects of life. By the time he reached adulthood, he was living independently and encountering difficulties in his personal and financial life. Over the years, he developed a pattern of borrowing money, often without the intent to pay it back.
He had relationships with different people, including a significant relationship with Kazuko Nakano, who became his live-in partner. Their relationship had ups and downs, largely due to financial issues. It was reported that Nakano often pressed Toyoda to repay the money he had borrowed from her.
While living with Nakano in Shizuoka, Toyoda's behavior turned dark. He was known to be involved in various illegal activities, which may have influenced his choices later in life. Overall, his early experiences and relationships shaped who he became, leading to the series of events that ultimately defined his later years.
In August 1996, Yoshimi Toyoda killed his live-in lover, Kazuko Nakano, who was 44 years old. He drugged her by mixing sleeping pills into her coffee. After she was incapacitated, he injected her with a lethal dose of amphetamines. Following her death, he buried her body in a secluded area in Shizuoka Prefecture. Toyoda then stole over 10 million yen in cash and assets from Nakano.
In September 1997, Toyoda committed another murder. This time, he shot Hide Shigeta, a 62-year-old restaurant owner, who he owed money. Toyoda had previously borrowed 4.2 million yen from Shigeta using an etching as collateral. To avoid repaying the debt, Toyoda killed Shigeta by hitting her with a steel pipe and then shooting her in a park in Owariasahi, Aichi Prefecture. After the murder, he stole 60,000 yen from her body.
Toyoda was arrested and eventually sentenced to death in July 2000 for these crimes. His death sentence was upheld by the Nagoya High Court in March 2002.
