Bio

Yasuhisa Sugiura was born in 1960 in Japan. He eventually became a government employee in Osaka. He lived there for most of his life. He was married and had a troubled relationship with his wife. The marital problems reportedly began to affect his family life.

Sugiura's marriage became difficult over the years, leading to conflicts within the family. At one point, his mother-in-law, Yoshiko Tanaka, expressed concerns about the state of his marriage to friends. She had served as a member of the municipal assembly in Habikino, which is a city located in Osaka Prefecture.

Sugiura often struggled with personal issues, and these problems seem to have escalated into serious conflicts with his family. He was known to have disagreements with his mother-in-law. By 2010, these tensions reached a breaking point, leading to a tragic event that would capture the attention of the nation.

Murder Story

On January 12, 2010, Yasuhisa Sugiura carried out a shooting at a bar in Habikino, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He was 49 years old and a government employee. Earlier that evening, he went to the Ii-chan bar to talk with his mother-in-law, Yoshiko Tanaka, who was 66 years old. They were discussing a divorce between Sugiura and his wife, who was possibly at the bar as well.

During their conversation, Sugiura became agitated and left the bar. He returned shortly after with a shotgun. He opened fire inside the bar around 8:00 PM. His first two victims were his mother-in-law, Yoshiko Tanaka, and a 23-year-old bar employee named Tatsuya Fukui. Both of them died immediately. A third victim, Hiroto Uehara, the 49-year-old landlord of the bar, was critically injured and died later.

Witnesses heard the sounds of the shotgun and described them as "three or four blunt bangs." After the shooting, Sugiura exited the bar and shot himself in the abdomen, ending his life. This incident resulted in the deaths of three people and was a rare occurrence of gun violence in Japan, where such shootings are uncommon.
