2012Yaroslav Mazurok (sometimes spelled Mazurka) appears in public reports from Ukraine. There is little reliable public information about his childhood, family background, or schooling.

On September 26, 2012, an incident took place at the Karavan Shopping Mall in Kyiv. Security guards took the suspect, Yaroslav Mazurok, to a back room. He produced a gun and shot three of the security guards dead and seriously injured a fourth. He then escaped from the mall.
The case became one of the most infamous gun crimes in Ukraine since independence in 1991. Mazurok was reported to have been on the run for more than a month. His body was later found in woods near Kyiv's Dorohozhychi metro station.
Police described him as an illegal gunsmith and a trained assassin. His family protested his guilt. His wife said he was a labourer and that he had been framed.
