Werner Boost was born on May 6, 1928, in Düsseldorf, Germany. His birth name was Werner Korecki. He spent his childhood and youth in a Protestant orphanage located in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth. During this time, he was adopted and raised in the orphanage. At one point, he was admitted to a care home because he stole 300 Reichsmark from his mother. Throughout his early life, he never met his father.

At the age of 16, he had missed two school lessons and was drafted into the Wehrmacht, which was the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany. Shortly after joining, he became a prisoner of war held by American forces. After World War II ended, he attempted to complete a baker's apprenticeship but was unable to finish it. Following this, he found work as a casual laborer and helped people escape in what would later be known as East Germany. Due to this, he was sentenced to three weeks in prison by the judiciary in the Soviet occupation zone.

In 1949, Werner got married. The following year, he moved with his wife and two daughters to his mother's home in Düsseldorf, West Germany. While living there, he faced legal troubles again and was sentenced to several months in prison for theft, alongside his friend Franz Lorbach, who would later become his accomplice.

murder story

In 1953, the first known murder linked to Werner Boost took place. Bernd Servé, a lawyer, was shot and killed in his car while with his boyfriend, Adolf Hüllencremer. Boost and an accomplice attacked them wearing masks. Hüllencremer managed to feign death after a blow to his head and later contacted the police.

In November 1955, investigators found a sunken car in a gravel pit near Düsseldorf-Kalkum. Inside were the bodies of 26-year-old Friedhelm Behre and his girlfriend, Thea Kürmann. Both had been robbed and murdered, similar to the attack on Servé and Hüllencremer.

On February 8, 1956, police were searching for two missing people when they found an empty car that had traces of blood inside. The next day, a search led them to a nearby haystack. In that haystack, they found the bodies of Hildegard Wassing, a 20-year-old secretary, and her date, Peter Falkenberg.

Boost was arrested four months after the last killings. He was caught observing a couple in their car in a grove near Düsseldorf. When arrested, Boost did not attempt to flee.

During his trial in June 1956, his accomplice, Franz Lorbach, testified against him. Lorbach admitted to the attack on Servé and stated that Boost was the one who shot him. Boost was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Other murder charges were not proven due to insufficient evidence.

Lorbach received a six-year sentence as an accessory to the crimes. After serving 34 years in prison, Werner Boost was released in July 1990 from Schwerte Prison.
