Bio

Virgilio Maldonado was born on November 12, 1965, in Michoacan, Mexico. He grew up in a country known for its rich culture and traditions. At some point in his early life, he moved to the United States, seeking better opportunities. 

In the United States, Maldonado worked as a laborer. His education level was reported to be only up to the seventh grade, which might have limited his job prospects.

Maldonado had no prior prison record before being arrested for a serious crime. He lived a relatively quiet life until the events that would later lead to his notoriety. He was 30 years old when he committed the crime that led to his arrest.

On April 25, 1996, Maldonado was arrested. 

Murder Story

On November 12, 1995, Virgilio Maldonado, along with a co-defendant, went to the home of Cruz Saucedo in Harris County, Texas. Their intent was to rob him of marijuana and a handgun. During this crime, Maldonado shot Saucedo three times in the back of the head. After the shooting, Saucedo’s body was left on his kitchen floor.

In April 1996, Maldonado was arrested. He was charged with capital murder after he admitted his involvement in the crime during an interview with the police. He initially did not confess but later provided a recorded statement in which he detailed the events that led to the murder, including binding the victim and demanding firearms and drugs.

The trial for Maldonado's case concluded in December 1997 when he was sentenced to death for his actions. He was convicted on charges of capital murder, as the crime was committed during the course of a robbery attempt.
