Vincenzo Aiutino was born on March 10, 1970, in Zofingen, Switzerland. He grew up in a troubled home. His father, Domenico, was a mason from Sicily, and he often neglected Vincenzo. The family later moved to Belgium when Vincenzo was five years old.

In 1975, a shocking event occurred in his childhood. Aiutino witnessed his father committing a serious crime against his seven-year-old sister. This event had a significant impact on him.

As a teenager, Aiutino found work at a construction site in Belgium. However, he faced serious issues. In 1985, he was admitted to a psychiatric institution for a short time after he exposed himself to a woman. The following year, at the age of 16, he dropped out of school and stopped his education. His troubling behavior continued to grow.

By the time he was 18, Aiutino was charged with the sexual assault of a minor. At 19, he was sentenced to prison for violent theft. In July 1990, he married Marie-Antoinette Calla, who was a divorcée with a young son.

murder story

On 6 August 1991, Vincenzo Aiutino lured Isabelle Le Nénan, a 20-year-old commercial attaché, to a construction site under false pretenses. Once there, he exposed himself and attempted to rape her. A few months later, her naked body was found in the woods of Turpange. An autopsy showed that she had died from a skull fracture caused by a blow to the head with an iron bar.

On 13 September 1991, Aiutino approached another woman, 21-year-old Isabelle Christophe, at the same supermarket. He again used the pretense of helping her and led her to a cellar. There, he raped her, strangled her, and killed her with an iron rod. Initially, her death was thought to be a suicide, but police shifted their investigation to view it as a sexual crime after consulting their records on local sex offenders. This led them to Aiutino, a mason working nearby. He was detained for ten hours on 2 December 1991 but released due to insufficient evidence.

On 25 February 1992, Aiutino attacked Bernadette Bour, a 40-year-old medical sales representative. He punctured her tire and offered assistance. After leading her to a basement, he attempted to rape her and then beat her to death with an iron rod. He disposed of her body in Allondrelle-la-Malmaison. The police did not investigate immediately, allowing Aiutino to escape.

Later, Belgian police arrested Aiutino at his father's house in Aubange. He initially confessed to the murders but later retracted his statements and accused his father instead. This complicated his extradition to France, which finally occurred in 1993. During the extradition process, Aiutino blamed his brother for the murders.

On 2 March 1998, Aiutino was tried for his crimes. Psychiatric experts deemed him an incurable psychopath. He confessed to the murder of Bour but denied responsibility for the others. On 6 March 1998, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, which included a minimum term of 18 years. While in prison, he assaulted several staff members in 1998, resulting in an additional five-month sentence.
