Vera Renczi was reportedly born around 1903 in Bucharest, Romania. After her mother died when Vera was about 13 years old, she moved with her father to Nagybecskerek, which is now Zrenjanin in Serbia. From a young age, Vera showed strong emotions and was extremely jealous, especially concerning her relationships. She was first married around age 20 to a wealthy Austrian banker named Karl Schick, and they had one son, named Lorenzo.
murder story
According to stories from the 1920s, Vera's jealousy drove her to poison her first husband, Karl, using arsenic. She lied, saying he had left the family. After a short mourning period, she married again, but her second husband also vanished mysteriously. Vera then had many lovers, who all disappeared after spending time with her.
The truth came out when the wife of one missing lover went to the police. In the early 1920s, the police searched Vera’s home and reportedly found 32 coffins hidden in her wine cellar, each containing a man’s body. Vera admitted to poisoning each victim due to jealousy and fear they would leave her. She even confessed to poisoning her own son, Lorenzo, because he had discovered her crimes.
She was arrested and convicted shortly after the discovery of the bodies, though exact dates remain unclear. Vera Renczi was sentenced to life in prison.
However, it is important to mention that some researchers and historians believe her story may not be entirely true, as no reliable records or evidence have been found to fully confirm the details of her life or crimes.
