— Tu Le Ngo
Tu Le Ngo was born in 1942. He lived with his family in Vietnam during his early years. In 1990, Tu Le Ngo and his wife, Kimtuyet Thi Le, moved to the United States. They settled in Houston, Texas, where they co-owned a Vietnamese restaurant.
Kimtuyet Thi Le was born in 1946. She came to the U.S. with Tu Le after they got married. They had some issues in their marriage. In 1999, Kimtuyet filed for divorce, but the case was later dismissed. The couple had not lived together since 1997.
Tu Le Ngo and Kimtuyet worked in their restaurant together, but their relationship continued to struggle. Witnesses later described their marriage as having serious problems, often mentioning jealousy as a part of their conflicts.
Tu Le Ngo had a daughter named Jenny. She remembers a time when family life began to change because of their marital issues. Despite the challenges they faced, the family tried to run their restaurant together. However, the stress of their relationship did not go away easily.
On July 29, 2002, Tu Le Ngo entered Kim Vietnamese Restaurant in Houston, Texas. He shot his estranged wife, Kimtuyet Thi Le, who was 56 years old, and two customers, Polaris Nguyen, 44, and Nuoi Vinh, 50. Witnesses reported that Ngo walked into the restaurant and began firing a gun at close range. He shot all three victims in the head multiple times.
After the shootings, Ngo turned himself in to the police. He laid down his weapon and admitted to killing his wife and the customers. Ngo was read his rights and taken into custody without further incident.
The police indicated that marital problems and jealousy may have motivated the murders. According to witnesses, there were prior tensions between Ngo and the customers, who had not paid their bills. Ngo's daughter, Jenny Ngo, later shared that her father had told her he shot the customers after a confrontation about their unpaid bills. She also mentioned that she believed her mother’s death might have been an accident during the chaos.
Tu Le Ngo was arrested on the same day as the murders. In 2003, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three life sentences in prison.
