murder story

Gribble's first suspected victim, known only as "Christina," was a hitchhiker he picked up near Dickinson, Texas, in October or November 1985. He raped and strangled her, leaving her body near the Brazos River. Authorities were unaware of this crime until his confession.

On June 16, 1986, Gribble kidnapped 23-year-old college student Donna Weis from Texas City. He took her to a wooded area near Santa Fe, raped and strangled her, then buried her body. Weis remained missing until Gribble led police to her remains after his arrest.

On September 8, 1987, 36-year-old Elizabeth "Libby" Jones disappeared from her home in Clear Lake Shores, Texas. Gribble, who had been working as a roofer on her house, returned that evening under the pretense of retrieving a lost wallet. Once inside, he raped and kidnapped her, later strangling her and leaving her body in a field.

Gribble fled to Tennessee but was arrested on September 30, 1987. He confessed to the murders and led authorities to the bodies of Jones and Weis. He was indicted for the capital murder of Jones and sentenced to death on April 23, 1992.

On March 15, 2000, Gribble was executed by lethal injection at the Huntsville Unit in Texas. In his final statement, he expressed remorse, stating, "I was wrong what I did. Just please, find peace."
