murder story
On August 31, 1984, Tiequon Aundray Cox and another man entered the home of Ebora Alexander, who was the mother of NFL player Kermit Alexander. They opened fire inside the house, resulting in the deaths of four people. The victims included Ebora Alexander, her daughter Dietra, and two boys, Damon Bonner and Damani Garner-Alexander. The family members who survived were hiding and managed to scare off the shooters. The two suspects were seen fleeing in a brown or maroon van.
Cox was arrested later and charged with the murders. He was found guilty of four counts of first-degree murder in 1986. The jury sentenced him to death, and he was placed on death row in California.
While in prison, Tiequon Cox was involved in a violent incident in 1988 when he stabbed fellow inmate Stanley Tookie Williams. This act was later depicted in a 2004 TV film.
On July 18, 2000, Cox attempted to escape from San Quentin State Prison with two other inmates. They rushed towards a hole in a chain-link fence but were stopped by prison officers. This escape attempt highlighted security issues at San Quentin.
Cox's case has been discussed in various books and media, which document the events surrounding the 1984 murders and the gang affiliations tied to them.
