Theerasak Longji was a Thai citizen born in 1992. Little is publicly documented about his early life, family background, or education. What is known is that before committing murder, Theerasak had a criminal history, including arrests for drug possession, marijuana-related charges, and firearms violations. These previous run-ins with the law suggest a troubled past, possibly influenced by substance use and exposure to violence.
He was reportedly married and had an 8-year-old son at the time of his execution. Despite being a father, Theerasak found himself increasingly entangled in criminal activities. Details on his employment, schooling, or support system remain unknown.
murder story
On the evening of 17 July 2012, 17-year-old Danudet Sukmak was ambushed and stabbed 24 times in Trang Province, southern Thailand. The attackers were Theerasak Longji and an unidentified accomplice. Danudet attempted to flee the attack, managing to reach a nearby park, but he collapsed and died at the scene from his injuries.
After the brutal murder, Theerasak stole the victim’s phone and money before escaping the area. The attack was not random — Danudet and Theerasak knew each other, and police reports later revealed that the motive was believed to be jealousy over a girl.
The incident triggered swift police investigation. Theerasak was arrested soon after, but his accomplice or accomplices were never apprehended. The court later convicted Theerasak of aggravated robbery and aggravated murder, and he was sentenced to death. His appeals were denied by both the Appeal Court and Thailand’s Supreme Court, who upheld the ruling.
On 18 June 2018, six years after the murder, Thai authorities carried out his execution by lethal injection at Bang Kwang Central Prison, a facility known for housing death row inmates. This marked Thailand’s first execution since 2009 and the seventh lethal injection execution since the country ended execution by firing squad in 2003.
The day of his execution unfolded rapidly. At 4:00 p.m., the court gave the final order for execution. By 5:00 p.m., Theerasak was allowed a final phone call to his wife, during which he claimed innocence. He was not permitted to speak with his son. At 6:00 p.m., the lethal injection process began. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Reports noted that in his final moments, Theerasak was seen praying in Arabic, indicating a possible religious or spiritual conversion before his death. Following his execution, prison authorities contacted his mother and informed her that the family could retrieve his body.
