— Tetsuo Odajima
Tetsuo Odajima was born in 1943 in Japan. Odajima engaged in various robberies. He was eventually caught for his actions in the early 2000s. His criminal activities escalated, leading him to participate in serious crimes.
In March 2007, he was sentenced to death for multiple murders. The crimes he committed were serious and had a considerable impact on the victims and their families.
Tetsuo Odajima killed four people between August and November 2002. His first victims were Etsuko Mabuchi, 66, and her daughter Yuka, 40. On August 5, 2002, Odajima and his accomplice, Katsumi Morita, entered the Mabuchi family home in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture. They strangled both women and stole cash and jewelry worth a significant amount. After committing the murders, they set the house on fire before fleeing the scene.
On September 24, 2002, Odajima and Morita killed 71-year-old dentist Fumio Aoyagi in his home located in Meguro-ku, Tokyo. They strangled Aoyagi and took about 350,000 yen in cash from him.
Later, on November 21, 2002, they entered the home of 65-year-old Kimie Oshima in Abiko, Chiba Prefecture. They strangled her as well and stole around 1 million yen in cash.
Odajima and Morita were arrested and brought to trial. On March 22, 2007, Odajima was sentenced to death for his crimes, which included robbery and murder. He dropped his appeal against the death sentence later that year.
