Suzane Louise von Richthofen was born on November 3, 1983, in São Paulo, Brazil. She is the daughter of Manfred Albert von Richthofen, a German engineer, and Marisia von Richthofen, a Brazilian psychiatrist. Her father worked as a director of DERSA, a state-owned company that manages São Paulo's highway system. He also served as the chief engineer for a major highway project. Suzane has one younger brother named Andreas Albert von Richthofen.
Growing up, Suzane lived in a wealthy family. The family had a declared net worth of about R$5.5 million. There were also rumors about hidden accounts in Swiss banks linked to her father, which may have held significant money. Suzane attended a German high school and graduated before pursuing law studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo.
In the summer of 1999, Suzane met Daniel Cravinhos de Paula e Silva. Daniel was teaching her brother how to fly model airplanes. They quickly became involved in a romantic relationship and enjoyed activities together, such as attending Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes.
As Suzane grew older, she faced conflicts with her parents concerning her relationship with Daniel. They initially accepted the relationship but later disapproved when they discovered Daniel's issues with drug use and lack of ambition. Despite her parents' objections, Suzane continued her relationship with him.
murder story
In the late hours of October 31, 2002, Suzane von Richthofen planned the murder of her parents. She disconnected the family estate's alarm system after confirming they were asleep. Then, she opened the door to her boyfriend, Daniel Cravinhos, and his brother, Christian Cravinhos, who were waiting outside. The two brothers entered the parents' bedroom and attacked them with iron bars before strangling them with towels. Suzane waited downstairs during the attack.
Once the murders were done, the three staged the scene to look like a burglary. They took some money they found and made a mess in the house. After that, Suzane and Daniel went to a love hotel while Christian went to a fast-food restaurant. The next morning, Suzane and Daniel picked up her younger brother, Andreas, from an internet cafe. They returned home and "discovered" the crime scene. They called the police and told them their story.
However, the police quickly had doubts about the burglary theory. They began investigating further and questioned Suzane and her brother, as well as the family’s employees. They found strange details at the crime scene, like the disconnected alarm system, and noted Suzane's cold behavior. Despite the tragedy, Suzane was seen enjoying herself in the swimming pool with Daniel the day after the murders and celebrated her 19th birthday just hours after her parents were buried.
As the investigation continued, police started following Suzane and Daniel. They learned that Christian bought a motorcycle using cash a few days after the murders, which raised more suspicion. On November 9, 2002, all three were arrested. Suzane confessed to the murders shortly after her arrest.
She was released from prison in May 2005, awaiting her trial under house arrest. The trial started on July 17, 2006. During the trial, each of them shifted blame. Suzane accused Daniel of being in control, while the Cravinhos brothers claimed they acted on her orders. The prosecutor described Suzane as the mastermind behind the crime, seeking to inherit her parents' wealth. On July 22, 2006, Suzane was sentenced to 40 years in prison, while the brothers received similar sentences.
She remained in custody for 16 years at a women's prison in São Paulo and was released on probation in January 2023. After her release, she lived in rural Angatuba, then moved to Bragança Paulista. In early 2023, Suzane announced that she was opening an online store, which attracted media attention. She later became pregnant and gave birth to a son in January 2024. In December 2023, she changed her legal name to Suzane Louise Magnani Muniz.
