Sibusiso Derrick Duma was born on May 6, 1984, in South Africa. He grew up in the region of KwaZulu Natal. Information about his early life is limited, but it is known that he later became a taxi driver.
murder story
Sibusiso Derrick Duma committed his first murder on 9 September 2007. He was hired to drive Mqeku Zondi, a security guard, in his minibus taxi. When Zondi did not pay the full fare, Duma ran over him with the taxi and then reversed back over him again. After killing Zondi, Duma robbed him of his remaining money and a 9mm Norinco pistol.
On 14 October 2007, Duma and an accomplice named Simphiwe Khesi had been drinking at a local bar. They decided to hijack a vehicle to get home. They shot and killed Patricia Kippen, a bank employee, while trying to steal her car. They abandoned her vehicle after nearby residents noticed the shooting. Duma and Khesi then found a second car and killed the driver, Elaine Anderson, a former crime journalist.
On 19 October 2007, Duma raped and murdered Hlengiwe Shangase. He attacked her near her home, shot her in the head afterward using the pistol he had taken from Zondi. The next day, Duma hijacked a car and shot two men, Masizane Mtshatsha and Thamsanqua Mbindwane. Afterward, he kidnapped three more victims: Tsepo Mhlongo, Linda Jali, and a teenage girl. He robbed and shot the men before taking the young girl to a cemetery, where he raped her and then killed her by running over her multiple times with the stolen car.
Duma's final known victim was Noxolo Dlamini, a school teacher he kidnapped, robbed, raped, and murdered on 25 October 2007.
Duma was arrested and faced legal consequences for his actions. He was sentenced to several life terms in prison after being convicted of multiple murders. In total, he received eight life sentences and an additional 139 years in prison.
