Bio

Sherman Louis Noble was born in 1953 in Kentucky.

Murder Story

On July 31, 1985, Sherman Louis Noble committed his first murder. He shot Michael Edward Cox, who was 24 years old, in an alley on Maple Street. His actions went unnoticed for some time.

In March 1987, Noble killed three more men in a span of just a few days. The first of these victims was Walker Wendell Ison, 40 years old. Noble entered Ison's home and struck him in the head with a ball peen hammer. Ison suffered massive head trauma from this attack.

Just two days later, on March 13, 1987, Noble targeted his second victim, Charles F. Tompkins, who was 70 years old. Noble again used the ball peen hammer to strike Tompkins on the head, forcing him to the ground. He continued to beat Tompkins, leading to death from blunt force trauma. Over the following days, Noble stole various items from Tompkins's home.

On March 16, 1987, Noble killed his third victim, Lorenzo F. Harris, who was 87. He entered Harris's home and attacked him with the ball peen hammer, knocking him down. This time, Noble stabbed Harris in the neck and throat approximately 18 times, resulting in death. He also stole several personal items from Harris.

Noble was arrested in March 1987 after police found some of the victims' belongings in his possession. He confessed to the murders after his arrest. His case was delayed for many years due to questions about his mental competency. Eventually, he was found competent to stand trial, and a jury convicted him in December 2004.

On February 8, 2005, Noble was sentenced to death for the murders of Tompkins and Harris, while receiving a life sentence for killing Ison. He died in prison on October 1, 2007.
