Sheila Kaye Bailey was born on July 4, 1958, in Alabama. She had one sister named Lynn Noojin. Sheila experienced a very difficult childhood. Her father was an alcoholic who abused Sheila, her sister, and their mother both physically and emotionally. This environment made her upbringing very challenging.

Sheila graduated from Fort Payne High School in 1976. After that, she married a man named Ronnie Jennings. Sheila wanted to get a divorce from Ronnie, but he refused for a long time. In the early 1980s, Sheila faced more struggles. She attempted suicide and was taken to a psychiatric facility. While there, she told her sister that a hospital worker had tried to assault her.

In January 1981, Sheila married John Baxter. Later, in 1987, she moved to Epping, New Hampshire. This was after she responded to a personal ad from Wilfred "Bill" LaBarre, a chiropractor. Sheila did not marry Bill legally, but she took his last name and lived with him until his death in 2000.

In 1995, Sheila married Wayne Ennis, a Jamaican citizen, in York, Maine. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1996. After her marriage with Bill, Sheila received his farm, claiming she was his common-law wife. There was some conflict over his will after his death, as his children from a previous marriage contested it. Sheila denied any allegations that she had harmed Bill.

murder story

In 2006, Sheila LaBarre met Kenny Countie through a personal ad in Massachusetts. Shortly after meeting, he moved in with her. Countie, who was described as having a low IQ, became a victim. LaBarre recorded him during a confrontation, accusing him of being a pedophile. She then stabbed him to death and burned his body. The police later identified Countie’s DNA through his army records.

In 2005, LaBarre’s boyfriend Michael Deloge was last seen alive. His remains were not found until 2008 when police searched LaBarre's farm. During this search, they discovered a bone, a shell casing, and his birth certificate in a septic tank. The exact circumstances of his death remain unknown.

On April 1, 2006, the police issued an arrest warrant for LaBarre, charging her with first-degree murder. She was arrested on April 2. Following her arrest, investigators spent three weeks searching her farm. This search led to the discovery of three human toes, which were determined not to belong to either Countie or Deloge.

At her trial in May 2008, the jury visited LaBarre's farm and the Walmart where Countie was seen with her. LaBarre pleaded not guilty due to insanity. Her defense claimed she was mentally ill. Psychiatrists testified that she had schizoaffective disorder and a delusional disorder. However, the jury rejected her insanity plea. In June 2008, she was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

LaBarre's appeal in 2010 was rejected. She is currently incarcerated at New Hampshire State Prison for Women.
