Bio

Shaun Thrower was born in 1970. He grew up in England and lived in Norfolk. Growing up, he developed a fascination with weapons and idolized action movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger. This admiration earned him the nickname "Arnie" among friends.

As a young adult, he found work as a postman in King's Lynn. He became involved in a tumultuous relationship with a girl named Amanda Wagg. Their relationship was marked by frequent break-ups and confrontations. In February 1994, Amanda decided to end their relationship, which had become quite violent.

Thrower's behavior became increasingly concerning after the breakup. He frequently showed up at Amanda's house, prompting the police to be called to manage the situation. Amanda felt so threatened that she chose to stay with relatives in Warminster, Wiltshire, to escape him. While she was away, Thrower called her father and threatened that he would "get her."

When Amanda returned home, she decided to quit her job at Woolworths and intended to move in with family to distance herself from Thrower. Despite her efforts, Thrower continued to pressure her and was seen lingering around her house.

On March 23, 1994, Thrower visited Amanda at her workplace twice. After a brief conversation, he went to purchase a knife. He returned to the store and spent a significant amount of time talking to her again. Witnesses reported hearing Amanda tell him that she would not change her mind about their breakup.

Murder Story

On March 23, 1994, Shaun Thrower killed Amanda Wagg, a 17-year-old girl and his former girlfriend, in a Woolworth's store in King's Lynn, England. Shaun had a troubled relationship with Amanda that included break-ups and violence. After Amanda ended their relationship, she planned to move in with her aunt in Wiltshire to escape from him.

On the day of the murder, Shaun visited Amanda at work. He spent about 15 minutes talking to her before leaving. He then went to a shop and bought a camouflage knife. Shaun returned to the store and spent 45 minutes talking to Amanda again. Despite her clear decision to leave him, he could not accept it.

Witnesses in the store heard a loud bang and called the police. Shaun attacked Amanda, stabbing her in the back with the knife. The force of the attack was so great that the knife came out from the front of her body. After the attack, Shaun fled the scene. However, he later gave himself up to the police.

Shaun was arrested on the same day and charged with murder. He was tried at Norwich Crown Court and found guilty on March 22, 1995. He was sentenced to life in prison. After serving 11 years, he was released on licence in March 2006. In 2010, he was arrested again after a knifepoint stand-off with police, leading to his return to prison to serve his life sentence.
