1997 - 2006Scott Wilson Williams was born on December 3, 1963, in Monroe, North Carolina. He grew up in this small town and lived most of his life there. Not much is known about his childhood or family background. People who knew him described him as having a normal upbringing.
As a young man, Scott went to school in Monroe. He was not known for any trouble and seemed to lead a typical life. After finishing his education, he found work with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. He held a steady job and lived a life that many would consider ordinary.
Scott did not have any prior criminal record before his later convictions. He blended into his community, often going unnoticed. Many people would later comment that he lived a normal life, which stood out in sharp contrast to the serious crimes he was later convicted of.
Throughout the years, he formed friendships and relationships in Monroe. However, specific details about his social life or personal relationships are limited. Most of the people around him saw him as just another resident of their town. He maintained a presence in Monroe for many years until significant events in his life changed everything.
In 1997, Scott Williams killed Sharon House Pressley, a 37-year-old woman from Charlotte, North Carolina. This was the first of three murders he would commit over the years. In 2004, he murdered Christina Outz Parker, a 34-year-old from Monroe, North Carolina. Two years later, in 2006, he killed Sharon Tucker Stone, a 46-year-old woman also from Monroe. The murders went unsolved for some time.
The investigation into Sharon Stone's death began when her remains were found by a man picking up cans. At that time, Williams was an employee of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and had no prior criminal record. Initially, law enforcement did not have any particular reasons to suspect him as a killer. A comment by an investigator noted that he seemed to live a normal life, apart from the murders.
Eventually, Williams was identified as an acquaintance of Sharon Stone. This connection led to his arrest on March 9, 2006, at 1:30 AM. All three victims had been shot in the head and showed similar types of mutilation. During the investigation, police discovered that Williams also knew Parker and Pressley. They found out that Parker and Stone were acquaintances as well.
The cases were investigated by various agencies, including the Union County—Chesterfield County Homicide Task Force, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI. Evidence against Williams included DNA, ballistics, witness identification from survivors, and incriminating statements he made.
On July 18, 2008, Williams faced execution for his crimes. Instead, he entered Alford pleas to the three murder charges as part of a plea deal. He was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without parole. Williams also entered Alford pleas for charges of first-degree kidnapping, rape, and sexual offenses against two other women from 1995 and 2000. He was represented by lawyers from Asheboro, North Carolina.
After his sentencing, Williams was held at Alexander Correctional Institution. He passed away in prison on August 6, 2022.
