2022Ruslan Rushanovich Akhtyamov was born on 22 April 1996. He was Russian.
Reports indicated that he had been struggling with mental illness.
At the time of the reports in April 2022, he was 26 years old.
On 26 April 2022 a shooting took place at the Ryabinka kindergarten in Veshkayma, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia.
The attacker was 26-year-old Ruslan Rushanovich Akhtyamov, born 22 April 1996.
He entered the kindergarten with an IZh-27 double-barreled shotgun. A staff member who tried to stop the attack was shot dead.
Akhtyamov walked into a classroom during the children's naptime and opened fire. Two small children were killed. Reports said the children had been born in 2016 and 2018. Another staff member was wounded.
After the shooting Akhtyamov turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
The National Guard of Russia said the firearm had been obtained under the name of another person. Izvestia reported that the firearm's owner had been found dead, and that person was identified as Alexander Dronin, 68, Akhtyamov's neighbor, who died prior to the attack.
Five people died in the incident: Alexander Dronin (68), Olga Mitrofanova (35) the teacher, Ekaterina Sosnova (5) a student, Vladimir Krylov (6) a student, and Ruslan Akhtyamov (26) the assailant. One person was injured, a 52-year-old assistant teacher.
Reports indicated that Akhtyamov had been struggling with mental illness.
The governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Aleksey Russkikh, said the families of the victims would be given medical, psychological, and social help. Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova called for the National Guard to be on duty in schools and kindergartens. Russkikh and Yuri Bezdudny offered their condolences.
