Murder Story

On February 22, 1978, Roy Allen Stewart committed a violent crime in Dade County, Florida. His victim was Margaret Haizlip, a 77-year-old woman who lived near Stewart.

That night, around 10:00 p.m., Mrs. Haizlip saw Stewart outside her home and greeted him. She invited him in and even made him a sandwich. However, Stewart soon went into her bathroom and stole a gold watch from her medicine cabinet. When Mrs. Haizlip confronted him about the missing watch, a violent struggle ensued. Stewart assaulted her, causing severe injuries.

During the assault, he also sexually assaulted her. In the end, he strangled her using an electrical cord, leaving clear marks around her neck. The medical examiner later reported multiple broken ribs, bruises, and other serious injuries on Mrs. Haizlip's body, indicating she fought for her life.

After the crime, Stewart left the scene, leaving behind blood on his hands. He was apprehended and brought to trial. His actions led to a conviction, and he was sentenced to death.

Roy Allen Stewart was executed by electrocution in Florida on April 22, 1994.
