1999Ronald Jeffrey Prible Jr. was born on April 18, 1972, in Harris County, Texas. He grew up in a suburban environment with his family, which included his parents and siblings. He attended local schools and received a basic education, eventually finishing 12th grade.
It is reported that he was a laborer and took on jobs that would require physical work. He became involved in criminal activities, including theft.
Ronald had a friendship with Esteban "Steve" Herrera, which began in his early 20s. The two friends were involved in crime together and allegedly planned to venture into business.
On April 24, 1999, Ronald Jeffrey Prible Jr. committed a series of murders in Harris County, Texas. He killed Esteban "Steve" Herrera, who was 29 years old, and Herrera's fiancée, Nilda Tirado, who was 24. They were shot in their home. Prible then set fire to the residence, which resulted in the deaths of three young children: Rachel and Valerie, both 7 years old, and Jade, who was only 22 months old. The children died from smoke inhalation caused by the fire.
Prible was the last person seen with Steve before the murders. Witnesses testified that the two men were friends and had previously engaged in criminal activities together, including bank robbery. However, in a twist of events, Prible accused Steve of stealing a significant amount of money from him, which led to a fatal confrontation.
After the murders, Prible's actions suggested a deliberate attempt to destroy evidence. He burned Nilda's body to conceal his involvement in the crime. The investigation revealed that he had a sexual encounter with her shortly before her death. The fire also caused smoke inhalation deaths for the three children, who were asleep in their bedrooms at the time.
Prible was arrested and ultimately convicted for these crimes. He was sentenced to death on November 4, 2002. His case received attention, especially when he attempted to appeal his sentence, but the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear his appeal in 2009.
