Bio

Ronald Glenn West was born in 1947. He grew up in Ontario, Canada. Not much is known about his early childhood, but he later became a Toronto police officer. He served as a traffic cop in the 53 Division. Ronald worked there for four years before quitting the force in 1972.

As a police officer, West was quiet and kept to himself. Those who knew him did not suspect anything wrong about his character. He was seen as a caring person by his family and friends. He married and had children; he raised his family in Ontario.

Ronald's life changed drastically after he left the police force. In 1995, he was arrested for a series of robberies in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. During this time, he maintained a normal appearance, which shocked his neighbors when they learned about his crimes.

While serving an eight-year sentence for robbery, he was later charged with the murder of two women. As he sat in prison, he remained isolated from other inmates due to the nature of his past career as a police officer and the crimes he was accused of committing. Throughout this time, Ronald West's life went from being a seemingly average father and husband to a person facing serious accusations.

Murder Story

In May 1970, Ronald Glenn West committed two murders in Ontario, Canada. The first victim was Doreen Moorby, a 34-year-old mother. She was shot five times in the head and twice in the back on May 6, while she was home alone with her young son. The son was unharmed in the incident. A week later, on May 13, 1970, West murdered his second victim, Helen Ferguson, who was 38 years old. She was shot once in the head and twice in the back when she answered the door to a man, leaving her nine-year-old son unharmed in his bedroom.

For many years, West's crimes went unsolved. In 1995, he was arrested for a series of violent robberies, which revealed more about his criminal behavior. During this time, police watched his home for 48 hours before arresting him. He was convicted of the robberies and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Years later, through DNA evidence, West was linked to the 1970 murders. On August 27, 1999, he was charged with the first-degree murder of both women. Ronald West was a Toronto police officer at the time of the murders and worked in a traffic division. In 2001, he pleaded guilty to the murders of Doreen Moorby and Helen Ferguson and received two life sentences.

In addition to these murders, West was also investigated for a double murder that occurred in 1991 at a picnic site near Blind River, Ontario. The victims, Gord and Jackie McAllister, were attacked while they rested in their motorhome, with Jackie being killed immediately and Gord injured but surviving. At the time, West lived nearby with his family.

Due to the nature of his crimes and his background as a police officer, West faced a high risk of violence while incarcerated and was kept in a private cell for his safety.
